Ram’s 2018 Tungsten Edition half-ton, HD pickups are its “most luxurious” yet

Updated Jul 25, 2017

Billed as the truck maker’s most lavish pickups yet, Ram has unveiled the Tungsten Edition for its Limited 1500, 2500 and 3500. The unique design of the truck borrows from both Ram’s Limited and Sport models.

So what makes these trucks so opulent? For starters, the headliner is suede, and the majority of the truck’s cabin is appointed in what Ram calls “Natura Plus” Frost and Indigo-colored leather. In sister site Hard Working Trucks’ chance to get up close with the Tungsten, editor Tom Quimby said â€śthe light frost, indigo interior of the Tungsten edition is striking, but it’s the soft touch of that nappa leather that’s most memorable.”

The carpet of the trucks also carry that Indigo coloring along with rubber floor mats and snap-out Frost and Indigo carpeted inserts. The Tungsten interior is further complemented by real wood components.

Ram brand chief Mike Manley calls the Tungsten “the highest trim level Ram has made available,” and says the truck is a direct response to customer input. According to Ram, 40 percent of Ram 3500 Heavy Duty trucks sold are in one of the brand’s three luxury trims.

The exterior of the truck features a Tungsten Chrome grille with RAM badging. If you opt for the 1500, the Limited-inspred grille rests beneath a sport hood. The bumpers, mirrors, door handles and running boards are all body-color matched as is the RAM badging on the tailgate. The headlamps on the truck are highlighted by a black surround seen on the 1500 Sport.
