New York Welcome SignThe New York State Department of Transportation will spend $403.3 million on pavement improvements this year that will cover close to 1,700 miles of roadway across the state.

“Safe and reliable infrastructure is the backbone of any economy and this funding will help ensure roadways across the region remain in good repair and able to meet the needs of New Yorkers, businesses and visitors alike,” says Gov. Andrew Cuomo. “This administration has made an unprecedented investment in rebuilding New York’s transportation network, work that will improve the quality of life for residents and lay the groundwork for future growth and prosperity.”

The funds include $100 million of new funding as well as budgeted capital construction funds.

“The roads we are paving this summer range from high-volume interstates to rural routes, but all are important connectors between and within communities, linking downtowns to business districts and supporting our agriculture and tourism industries,” says NYSDOT Commissioner Matthew Driscoll.
