Updated Nov 25, 2016

North Carolina state line welcome signThe North Carolina Department of Transportation says it will be able to accelerate portions of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway by as much as four years and finish Interstate 40 improvements seven months early by using design-build contracts.

The beltway will become part of I-74 in the future.

Pat McCrory,” Transportation Sec. Nick Tennyson says. “Building a transportation network that better connects people to jobs, healthcare, education and recreation is a key part of the Governor’s 25-Year Vision for Transportation in North Carolina. I am very pleased we will be able to open these projects to traffic much sooner than originally anticipated.”
