North Dakota DOT seeks nominees for Highway Hall of Honor

North Dakota welcome signThe North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is seeking nominations for its Highway Hall of Honor awards that recognize those who have “made a difference in North Dakota’s highway system.”

“We’re not just looking for engineers or those involved in construction,” the department says. “We’re also looking for people who have worked hard to improve the region’s transportation system, or have used their influence and expertise as members of national or regional organizations to improve our system’s effectiveness or safety.”

Criteria on which nominees will be judged include:

NDDOT says the Highway Hall of Honor, established in 1974, is designed to recognize individuals making lasting or valuable contributions to the highway system at the local, county or state level and to highlight the “vital functions” transportation developments have on the state and its people. Forty-five people have been inducted since it was established.

Nominees will be accepted until Jan. 15 and can be submitted to Laurie Martin, North Dakota Department of Transportation, 608 East Boulevard Avenue, Bismarck, ND 58505-0700. Nomination forms also are available at www.dot.nd.gov.
