California Attorney General Kamala Harris sued last month to stop the $200 million extension of a toll road in Orange County, Southern California Public Radio reported.
Harris’ suit to block a 5.5-mile extension of State Route 241 is claims the Foothill-Eastern Transportation Corridor Agency violated state environmental law when it approved the project because, according to Harris, the extension only serves to allow for a future 16-mile extension that links State Route 241 to Interstate 5 near the San Diego County line.
The California Coastal Commission previously rejected the 16-mile extension.
The toll road agency said the approved extension is a stand-alone project.
