Business Roundup: News from IronPlanet, Brooks Tractor, CBS Rental & Supply, Hawthorne Cat, compact excavator sales trends

Updated Dec 2, 2016

IronPlanet has launched a new twist to its allEquip online used equipment marketplace.

Launched in 2014 as an alternative to online equipment auctions, allEquip allows heavy equipment owners to sell their used machines with a fixed “Buy Now” price. Similar to the concept of eBay’s “Buy-It-Now” option, the site allows customers to purchase a piece of used equipment in just a few clicks—without having to bid on it.

Now, IronPlanet has added negotiated pricing into the formula through a “Make Offer” button.

The new functionality will also be available on the company’s GovPlanet and TruckPlanet marketplaces along with the traditional online and onsite auctions.

Brooks Tractor, a John Deere dealer based in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, is now an authorized Topcon OEM dealer via its Brooks Positioning Systems division.

“We are excited to announce that we added Topcon to our portfolio of positioning products,” says Mary Kay Brooks, general manager, Brooks Tractor. “When John Deere announced SmartGrade, their first in class series of dozers with Topcon integrated grade control, our customers asked if that meant we would be their Topcon dealer. As of this month, the answer is ‘yes’. We are excited to be a full-service OEM authorized Topcon distributor for the state of Wisconsin.”
