Technology Leap Pays Off for Kansas Contractor

It took Mark Linaweaver, owner of Lansing, Kansas-based contractor Linaweaver Construction,  a few years to pull the trigger on grade control technology, but once he did, he never looked back.

In the video above, Mark's son and vice president of the fifth generation of the family-owned civil construction company, Marcus Linaweaver, details his first encounter with grade control and how it has evolved.

“It was an intimidating first step to invest hundreds of thousands of dollars when you don’t even know what’s going on,” he says. “But Dad finally decided to make that leap."

Adding Project Manager Drew Pruett to the mix has taken Linaweaver’s tech journey to the next level. Pruett has implemented iPads and digital files on all jobsites.

Marcus also shares Linaweaver’s approach to operator training and equipment maintenance, as well as his best advice for new contractors.

Linaweaver Construction is one of 12 finalists for Equipment World’s 2024 Contractor of the Year Award.
