In February, I wrote about the kickoff for Equipment World’s Contractor’s Dream Package – a spectacular assortment of prizes worth nearly $100,000 – that goes to a single winner. That prize package was awarded October 29 to Cathy Lothes, president of
R & L Excavating in Newark, Ohio.
Lothes was thrilled with the package and for good reason: at an event hosted by Mathews Ford in Newark, she received a Ford F550 Super Duty truck, a Ditch Witch Zahn, a Landoll trailer, welders from Lincoln Electric, a Trimble site control system, a Baldor portable generator, lubricant products from Conoco Phillips, AlturnaMats ground protection mats, a VMAC underhood air compressor and a credit for FAE attachments!
As has been the case for many construction companies, business this year has been challenging for R & L Excavating, a 32-year industry veteran that performs a variety of projects including excavation and road widening. Cathy, an Equipment World reader for 20 years, says that while entirely unexpected, winning the dream package was good fortune for the company.
As happy as Cathy was to receive the dream package, Equipment World, along with the program sponsors, was just as happy to present it to her. We consider the Contractor’s Dream Package program, now in its ninth year, to be one of the most satisfying experiences in which we participate.
